SES Committees

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our society. Would you like to get more involved with SES? The SES Call for Volunteers occurs annually. Keep your eye out for information during the summer for the next call for volunteers. 

The benefits of volunteering with SES include additional networking opportunities, points toward your CStd certification, and leadership opportunities.

 

Professional Recognition Committee

Activities: Responsible for overseeing the SES Awards Program. The SES awards program offers a unique opportunity to honor your colleagues with a nomination for one of its distinguished awards normally presented during the SES Annual Conference. In addition to administering SES awards, the Professional Recognition Committee also discusses and considers SES candidates for other standardization award opportunities outside of SES.

Certification Committee

Activities: Responsible for management of the SES Certification program, including administration and improvements to standards professional certification requirements.

Conference Planning Committee (CPC)

Activities: The Annual SES Conference is the cornerstone of the society as it provides the venue for SES to meet one of its primary missions – to educate individuals and organizations about standardization and conformity assessment. The CPC plays a pivotal role in developing the annual conference theme, session topics, speakers, and moderators. Each conference session is assigned a team responsible for creating a specific topic relevant to the overall conference theme and locating presenters to discuss various aspects of the topic. Through participation on the conference program committee, members have the opportunity to shape an outstanding educational experience.

Education & Content Committee

Activities: The SES Education & Content Committee is responsible for supports SES’ mission and vision to be the premier source for educational opportunities for standards professionals by providing high-quality educational and training opportunities that support SES members’ professional growth and development. This includes the delivery of the SES Webinar Series, SES Annual Conference Continuing Education Courses, and other education programs. It also covers SES publications, including producing the SES Journal. Additionally, the committee works to create meaningful content and opportunities for standardization professionals to expand their knowledge at all stages of their career and with a variety of experiences.

Industry Partner Committee

Activities: The newly created committee supports SES's relationships with industry leaders and SES stakeholders by exploring potential relationships and partnerships.

Leadership Development Committee

Activities: The Leadership Development Committee is responsible for solicitation of nominees and recommendation and the announcement of candidates for all elective Society offices. The Committee works directly with the Board of Directors to help identify nominees for all standing Committee chairs, vice chairs, and secretary positions. Members of this Committee are subject to the approval of the Board of Director’s Executive Committee.  Members are selected to represent the diversity of the Society.  The Committee serves to foster the Society’s leadership by identifying and recruiting talent for serving the SES in all its capacities.

Membership Committee

Activities: Responsible for growing and maintaining the SES membership and for establishing new Sections. Duties include sending membership invitations to anyone interested in the principles, techniques, and effects of standards and standardization; encouraging student memberships; identifying and inviting organizations to become organizational members; establishing incentive programs for members such as the “Refer a Friend (RAF)” program; promoting and maintaining the SES Buddy program; and maintaining an active liaison between Section and Society.

Standards Committee

Activities: Responsible for SES Standards program management including and creation of standards and guides for standards development professionals.  Update existing standards, evaluate needs and initiate new development projects to meet validated ones, draft new standards, improve approval process to stay in conformance with SES standards, and promote standards and guides. Frequency of meetings is about once every two months by web meeting.
