About the Webinar:

The webinar will consider what a young (emerging) and ambitious professional in a corporation might say to the CEO.  What support and information does the professional need to appropriately choose standards development targets and represent the company’s current and future position?  What issues face CEOs that have standards underpinnings and would justify sustained, even increased support of the standards function and the professional’s participation in corporate planning?  What standards/ standardization issues underlie, inform, or are informed by corporate planning tools and processes and emerging competitive conditions?  The webinar will also briefly discuss implications for standardization related training with examples.

About the Speaker:

At Northwestern University for 30 years, Jeffrey Strauss is associate director of the Center for Technology and Innovation Management (CTIM – within the university-wide Roberta Buffet Center for International and Comparative Studies) where he develops programs to raise attention in managers and faculty to underlying strategic issues not yet fully on their view screens – but which should be – including standards.  His work is often highly cross-disciplinary and applies such planning/analytic tools as roadmapping, mindmapping (and variants) and scenario planning.  Strauss is a member of the ANSI Committee on Education and the equivalent in IEEE and spearheads NIST supported industry-academic workshops and teaching materials development (including simulations/exercises).  He is the newly-elected Vice-Chair for the Americas for ICES, the International Cooperation for Education about Standardization.
