DETAILED AGENDA - Basics of Standardization: This session will lay the foundation for the subsequent session and discussions. We will start with an introduction to standardization, talk about why standards are important to all of us, identify the different types of standards, and summarize standards-specific terms and acronyms. Then, we will explore the US and international standardization systems. Finally, we will reinforce what you've learned by playing an interactive game.
- Pre-Standardization Activities: Participants will learn the pre-standardization activities needed, including assessing marketing research, understanding the stakeholders, refining the scope, literature review and evidence gathering, and developing a project plan.
- Standards Development Process: Participants will learn about standards development processes, standards lifecycle and considerations for participation in standards development activities.
- Implementation and Use of Standards and Conformity Assessment: Participants will learn the basic of conformity assessment, researching and acquiring standards, and how standards are used and implemented by the US government, industry, and examples of other countries, and Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs).
