Lorne K. Wagner Memorial Award
The SES/CSA Lorne K. Wagner Memorial Award was established in 2001 to recognize an SES member who has made an outstanding contribution to SES. The Award consists of a professionally mounted Citation, and is presented at the SES Annual Conference.
This Award is presented by invitation of the Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Awards Committee, to recognize noteworthy contribution or service to the growth and development of SES, through:
- Exceptional achievement as an SES Officer, or,
- Exceptional contribution to SES by any member.
The Award is presented on an annual basis.
Only individuals who are current members of SES are eligible for nomination.

Recipient: Amanda Benedict, MA, AStd - AAMI
Amanda Benedict, MA, AStd, is the Vice President, Standards at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). In addition to overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of the large and dynamic AAMI Standards Program, her work includes managing the national and international work program for the AAMI Sterilization Standards portfolio which includes serving as the Secretary and U.S. TAG Administrator for ISO/TC 198 on sterilization of health care products. Ms. Benedict has authored and reviewed articles for AAMI publications and designed, developed, and/or delivered panel presentations and educational sessions at conferences and workshops hosted by AAMI, the Kilmer Conference, International Association ofHealthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Earlier in her career, she managed the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) program to develop national and global standards for human resource management and led research on human resource management and workplace practices, professional competencies, healthcare and education and employment trajectories.
Ms. Benedict was appointed to the Board of Directors of SES – the Society for Standards Professionals from August 2016 to August 2020 as the SES Conference Program Council Director.
Ms. Benedict holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Arts in education and human development from the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition, Ms. Benedict holds the Associate Standards Professional Certification (AStd), reflecting expert knowledge and application of standards and standardization processes.
