NEWS RELEASE ICC Assist Efforts of SES in Providing Support for Standard Developing Organizations The International Code Council is pleased to be collaborating with SES - The Society for Standards Professionals in the distribution of two key resources design to assist Standard Developers and others who utilize or are involved in the standards development process. These two publications, ANSI/SES-1:2013, Recommended Practice for Designation and Organization of Standards and SES-2:2012, Model Procedure for the Development of Standards provide guidance for those interested in the effective creation and implementation of standards. ICC is making these standards available to its members, industry and other standard practitioners in both print and digital formats. “These new resources provide guidance for standard developers and others involved in defining the standards for safety, innovation and resilience in the built environment,” said ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “Through continued improvement in the development of standards that protect the public’s welfare and safety, we want to improve speed to market and encourage economic growth through better coordination between industry, design and compliance professionals.” Coming Soon: SES-3, Recommended Practice for Joint Standards Development. This document provides information for two or more standards developers working together to develop joint standards. The two publications currently available are: ANSI/SES-1:2013, Recommended Practice for Designation and Organization of Standards Standardization for the organization of the material covered is critical for Standard Development Organizations (SDO) so that users can quickly know where to locate important sections of a standard such as the scope, definitions, relevant references, performance requirements, related testing procedures and other requirements.
