This Award consists of a professionally mounted Citation, and is presented at the SES Annual Conference.
This Award is presented by invitation of the Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Awards committee, for unusual professional distinction and outstanding accomplishment or special contribution to recognized Associations or Committees in the field of standardization.
The Award is limited to one (1) per year.
Only individuals who are not current members or who have not been members of SES during the past five (5) years are eligible.
2016 Honorary Life Member Recipient:
Mr. John Bambei Jr., Retired Chief of Engineering, Denver Water
John Bambei has over 40 years of experience in performing and leading engineering efforts in the preparation of designs, plans and specifications, and studies for capital improvements and maintenance efforts for a wide variety of facilities relating to the water system including collection, storage, treatment and distribution of treated water. For 20 years, he was the Chief of Engineering for Denver Water’s Engineering Department and he participated in and directed studies involving complex cooperative water supply alternatives dealing with various water users, suppliers, utilities, and many regulatory agencies with the goal of determining the most efficient, cost effective, environmentally sound, and publicly acceptable ways to satisfy needs of water users and special interest groups. He is currently Owner of Bambei Engineering Services, LLC. Has a BS in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. Is a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. Has authored or coauthored more than a dozen professional papers. Has Professional Society membership in AWWA, AWS, ASCE, NACE and SSPC. Has received the AWWA George Warren Fuller Award, ASCE Rickey Medal and Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award. Been a member of the AWWA Air Valve Committee and the Steel Pipe Committee and Chair for the past 12 years. Member of the AWWA Standards Council for 13 years.
